India-bound Skoda Karoq Compact SUV Revealed

Skoda has unveiled its new compact SUV, the Karoq, to the global media today at an event in Stockholm, Sweden. The Karoq compact SUV will replace the highly successful Skoda Yeti. The Karoq is built on the new MQB platform that it shares with the Volkswagen group cars. The new MQB platform is flexible for EV applications as well.

This five-seater SUV also borrows some features from the Kodiaq which sits at the top of Skoda’s line-up. The Karoq is equipped with optional LED headlamps and standard LED tail lamps. Skoda designed this vehicle with traditional home grill and design philosophy by adding the next generation features as like Kodiaq. This Skoda is 4382mm long, 1841mm wide and 1605mm high. The boot of the Karoq has a capacity of 521 litres which can be increased to 1630 litres with the rear seats folded down. It have almost 200mm ground clearance. This model gets dual-zone climate control and a modern infotainment system with a touchscreen display which is smartphone compatible with the availability of Android Auto and Apple Car play. And it also gets WLAN hotspot, park assist, lane assist, blind spot detection and for the first time, a fully programmable digital instrument cluster.

The Karoq will be available with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine and 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine options. All of its engines can be ordered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG while 4X4 is optional across certain engines. The Czech car maker is expected to bring the Karoq to India in 2018. It will sit below the Kodiaq, which is launching soon, in India.
