After the long wait, Mahindra has finally launched the all-new 2020 Thar in India with prices starting at Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom, all India). The model will be available in hard-top, soft-top and convertible top formats. The new Thar developed not only for offroad and its try to target family and city audience also. The new Thar will be offered in six colours that include Red Rage, Mystic Copper, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, Rocky Beige and Aquamarine.

• AX MT six-seat soft-top: Rs  9.80 lakh
• AX MT six-seat soft-top: Rs 10.65 lakh
• AX (O) MT four-seat convertible-top: Rs 11.90 lakh
• LX MT four-seat hard-top: Rs 12.49 lakh
• LX AT four-seat convertible-top:: Rs 13.45 lakh
• LX AT four-seat hard-top: Rs 13.55 lakh

Diesel: 

• AX MT six-seat soft-top: Rs 10.85 lakh

Next-Gen Mahindra Thar looks bigger and wider than previous model. The rear seats of the new Thar features adjustable headrest and three point seat belts.  The new Thar borrows its steering wheel from the TUV300 and features controls for the music system. The new Thar will also feature power windows as the controls are visible on the central tunnel. This model also expect to get dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high speed alert system and driver and co-driver seat belt reminder to help it comply with new safety regulations. This model gets  7-inch touchscreen in the centre which gets both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.  
 

Mechanically, this model gets the All-New mStallion150 petrol engine and mHawk130 diesel engine. With 6-speed automatic and manual transmission options. The petrol unit is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that develops 150PS and 320Nm while the diesel is a 2.2-litre unit that puts out 130PSof power and 320Nm of torque. A 4x4 transfer case will be available as standard.
