Ford India has taken the wraps off a new 1.5 liter 3 cylinder petrol engine. The new engine develops 10 per cent more power and 7 per cent more torque than the existing 1.5 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine. 

The new 1,497cc engine develops 123PS @ 6,500 rpm of maximum power and 150Nm @ 4,500 rpm of maximum torque. This engine will comes with either 5 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed automatic transmission option. It's 10 per cent smaller in size compared previous one. This model have better fuel ecconomy, emissions and NVH compared to previous  4-cylinder motor. 

This new naturally-aspirated 1.5 liter engine will debut with the new EcoSport later this year. This eengine will be built at Ford’s Sanand plant in Gujarat, for both domestic and exports markets.
