Skoda launched the Rapid facelift at starting Chennai showroom price of Rs.8.42 lakh.

The new Rapid gets an entirely new face, sporting the new family grille and a new pair of headlamps that not only get a projector setup, but also daytime running lamps. The rear, interior and side profiles are quit same with previous model. But this new model get some additional features.

The new rapid get the same 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engines. This petrol engine delivers the power of 110 bhp (5250 rpm)and torque of 153Nm (3800rpm). This diesel engine delivers the power of 105 bhp (4400 rpm) and torque of 250Nm (1500-2500rpm). And both engines are available with both manual and automatic transmission also. Automatic options include a conventional 6-speed torque converter paired with the petrol motor; the diesel gets the 7-speed dual-clutch DSG.

The Skoda Rapid will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Honda City, the Hundai Verna and  Volkswagen Vento.
