Mercedes-Benz launched the special variant to its S-Class lineup. Called the Connoisseur Edition. It is available in two trim levels - the S 350 d and the S400. The S 350 d is priced at Rs 1.21 crore, and S400 is Rs 1.32 crore (both prices ex-showroom Pune).  As the name suggests, it is has been crafted specifically to enhance level of luxury and comfort. 

The S 350 d variant is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 262PS of power and 620Nm of torque. And the S 400 has a 3.0-litre petrol motor that generates 338PS of power and 480Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated with a 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission. The diesel engine takes 6.8 seconds to reach 100kmph from a standstill, the petrol one completes it in 6.1 seconds. The most Mercedes-Benz products, is electronically limited to 250kmph.

The S-Class Connoisseur Edition comes with what Mercedes-Benz likes to call an executive rear seat behind the front passenger. Other features include AIR-BALANCE package including ionization, which helps in improved air filtering and fragrance, and Night View Assist Plus, which helps in improving night visibility and eventually reduce the risk of an accident. This model compete against the Jaguar XJ, Audi A8 and the BMW 7 Series in India.
