Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Launched At Rs 1 Lakh; Bookings Open

Bajaj has launched its first electric scooter - the Chetak in India priced at starting price of Rs 1 lakh. This new electric scooter priced at Rs 1 lakh for the Urbane edition with drum brakes and Rs 1.15 lakhs for the Premium model with disc brake (both prices are ex-showroom). Bajaj also commenced bookings for this model. Customers can book the scooter via the company’s official website  for a token amount of Rs 2,000.

Bajaj has drawn inspiration from its original Chetak. The Chetak is a well-equipped scooter with a handlebar-mounted LED headlight, LED turn signals and a fully digital LCD instrument cluster. Bluetooth phone connectivity is also on offer, as is geo-fencing, location tracking, music and telephone controls. The Chetak rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels, with a disc brake at the front and drum at the rear.

Bajaj Chetak eqiped with 4kW (peak) and 3.8kW (continuous) with 16Nm of peak torque motor. This motor draws power from a 3kWh IP67-certifed, lithium-ion battery which can be charged in five hours with a conventional charger. The scooter offers two modes- Eco and Sport which offer a range of 95kms and 85kms respectively. Bajaj has also announced that it will be providing a nominally-priced home charging station for the Chetak. It is suspended from a single-sided shock up front and a monoshock at the rear. The Chetak is being offered with a 3-year/50,000km warranty.
