Volkswagen has finally taken the wraps of the ID R Pikes Peak elctric race car model specifically for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb motorsport.In October 2017, Volkswagen announced their return to the iconic Pikes Peak Hill Climb racing with the teaser of an electric car.This model will expect to compete in the Pikes Peak International Hill climb in Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 24.
Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak have the ability to go from standstill to 100kmph in just 2.25 seconds, the VW I.D. R Pikes Peak is faster than most of the Formula 1 and Formula E cars.This model have two electric engines, it generates 680 bhp of max power and 649 NM of peak torque. The lithium-ion batteries used in the I.D. R Pikes Peak. As per VW claim, around 20 percent of the electric energy is generated during the drive and during braking. It have total weight of just 1133kg.
Romain Dumas, will be drive the Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak at the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill climb in Colorado. Volkswagen last entered the Pikes Peak hill climb in 1987 with a dual-engine Golf, which generated an impressive 652Bhp.
