Yamaha has launched its retro XSR155 in Thailand. The new bike is the smallest in Yamaha’s global heritage line-up. The new Yamaha XSR 155 is a retro-styled offering based on the YZF-R15 V3.0 and MT15. The XSR155 is priced at 91,500 baht (around Rs 2.1 lakh) in Thailand. This price is less than YZF-R15 V3.0 and MT15 in Thailand.

The design language is borrowed from the XSR900 and comes with the distinctive round LED headlamp, followed by the teardrop fuel tank and tan coloured ribbed single seat. The digital instrument console too is a circular shaped unit. The XSR is heavier than the MT-15 by a kilogram at 134 kg.  Mechanically, this model gets the same 150cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor gets variable valve actuation (VVA) which is used in both YZF-R15 V3.0 and MT15. It delivers the 19.3PS of power at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of torque and is paired to a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch. Suspension duties are handled by USD forks up front and a monoshock unit at the rear, while braking power comes from disc brakes at either end with ABS as standard.

The popularity of retro and classic motorcycles are increased drastically now a days in India. So, Yamaha Motor might consider bringing the model here. And, the R15 V3.0 and MT-15 are manufactured in the country, which makes it quite a viable option for the Indian market.
