Volkswagen begins Amio production at its Chakan facility in Pune and rolls out the first Amio model. The Volkswagen officially unveiled Amio compact sedan a few days ago which was developed based on Polo. This model is also expected to be released in June or July. The pre-booking of this model is already in progress. And this model was developed exclusively for Indian customers.

The same design is used in front and side as per Polo. Only the back side has been changed to give sedan-like appearance. Several new features are included which was not available in other car in this segment. Notably automatic wiper and cruise control. This model also has many excellent features.

The same 1.2 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine available in Polo is fitted in this model. This petrol engine has capacity of 1198cc and diesel engine has capacity of 1498cc. This petrol engine delivers the power of 75 bhp (5400 rpm)  and torque of 110Nm (3750rpm). And diesel engine delivers the power of 90 bhp (4200 rpm)  and torque of 230Nm (1500-2500rpm). The 7 speed DSG automatic gear box is available in diesel engine variants.

The Volkswagen Ameo will be offered in three variants - Trendline, Comfortline and Highline and available in five colors of Blue Silk, Reflex Silver, Toffee Brown, Candy White and Carbon Steel. This model compete against Maruti suzuki Dzire, Hyundai excent, Ford Figo Aspire and Tata Zest.
