Jeep Compass SUV Unveiled In India

Jeep India has taken the wraps off the  long awaited Compass in India. The international version of the Compass was unveiled in September last year at Brazil. This is the new entry-level Jeep model and will be the first one to be locally assembled in India. And this model also exported from India.

The Compass is a compact 4x4 SUV. Ant it Looking unmistakably like a smaller Grand Cherokee. This model have lot of design elements from Grand cherokee and Renegede. Inside, the dashboard layout and the instrument cluster is much like the Grand Cherokee, with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However this model gives perfect SUV look.

In India, the Compass is available 2.0-litre diesel engine and 1.4 liter petrol engine. The diesel engine making over 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. And petrol engine develops 162PS and 250Nm of torque. Both  coupled to a six-speed manual transmission with an optional seven-speed automatic. This will combine the magic of Jeep’s software controls called Selec-Terrain, which offers four modes Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud to tackle different terrain.  The Auto mode allows the Compass to disconnect drive to the rear wheels.

This model have 178mm of ground clearance. Safety has been given huge importance as well, as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Hill start assist and many other features are being offered as standard on the Compass. The Compass goes into production on the outskirts of Pune in June 2017 with the official launch starting shortly after.  Expect a price of about Rs 25 lakh for the all new Compass.
